We follow ancient Ayurvedic practices, referred to as Ayurvastra, to create textiles whose primary purpose is to nourish and heal.
The primordial elements of water, fire, earth, air and space are all invoked in the process of creating AyurSatwa's healing fabrics.
Our natural plant dyes are extracted from the leaves, roots, barks, stems and seeds of various plants. Natural plant colors range from vibrant to subtle hues and are created without the use of harmful chemicals or toxins.
All of AyurSatwa’s dye baths are infused with Kashyam, an extraction of our proprietary blend of 22+ fresh and dried Ayurvedic herbs. The selection and ratio of herbs are curated to have a tridoshic quality and are balancing for Vata, Pitta, and Kapha doshas.
As the Kashyam is added to the natural plant dye bath, it is charged with the invocation of the ancient Vedic hymn, the Gayatri Mantra. Mantras transmit positive energy not just through their meaning but also through their unique vibrations of sound.
The Gayatri Mantra is believed to burn away karmic impurities and invoke the divine within.
The AyurSatwa Way
Our products are made using pure cotton, plant dyes and medicinal herbs that are sustainably sourced from small, family-owned, organic farms.
Cotton fibers or handspun threads are hand-dyed in the charged bath, triple-washed, and air dried in the shade.
Our zero-waste process uses only all natural ingredients and creates a positive impact on the environment by eliminating pollutants.
These plant dyed, medicinally infused and energetically charged threads are woven by hand on looms to create beautiful, nourishing and potent fabrics that support health and wellness.
Hand weaving the warp and the weft strengthens and binds the healing properties of the medicinal herbs into the cloth.
The skin is the largest organ of the body and your skin’s pores are constantly breathing, absorbing, and releasing.
AyurSatwa's fabrics support health and wellness every time you use our naturally dyed textiles. The skin absorbs the healing qualities of the medicinal herbs and plant dyes that are infused into the cloth.
Our products are handmade by our team of expert dyers and weavers. We believe handcraft is dignified work and artisans are the caretakers of a valuable heritage. AyurSatwa is proud to support artisan communities.
